Style is based on personality and life style. Find something that suites you comfortably. Not what others tell you to wear. Who cares if they judge, they're just jealous. For me, I feel most comfortable in a pair of skinny jeans and a somewhat dressy shirt. I like to pair those up with a pair of converse and added accessories. There's no need to spend big bucks on nice clothes. You can also dress up a t-shirt to make yourself look more appealing and less junky. Just add a bold statement necklace and a cute cardigan. Now you look like you know what you're doing. ;)
So your saying people can't buy nice expensive clothes?
